Lifestyle : Making art of daily life

I was looking through my portfolio of pictures tonight and noticed some of my favorite pics weren't my travel/landscape stuff or my fashion/portrait but instead those of random acts of everyday life. I think one of the coolest things about photography is to be able to catch that moment of time and create art out of it. In lifestyle you don't control the models or the scene, you simply must create art with the motions of life going on where ever you may be. Sometimes its easier then others, its easy to snap a shot of your friend in the moment, Strangers on the other hand either must be asked for permission or you gotta be sneaky : ) not going to lie I've been screamed at by a guy in an airport when snapping pics of daily airport life. Lifestyle is the most common form of photography with every person these days snapping there lives away with little handheld digitals and now cell phones, but to create a memorable picture of that moment in time is still art. Here are a few examples of mine.

Lindy's 50th Birthday

I currently bartend for 4 high-end catering companys in San Diego. Two of which also sell me as an event photographer and for our event last saturday, I shot Lindy's 50th b-day! Lindy is the district manager for Neman Marcus, we do many events for her company. This event was held at a beautiful house in La Jolla and our company supplied 3 bartenders and myself as the photographer. The food was from a mexican catering company that made incredible tacos and had chips and guacamole everywhere. My part was to get great shots of the guests and the lady of the night. Everything went great! Good food, good drinks, and plenty of shots to remind Lindy forever how awesome her 50th birthday was! She had a great time and for that we did a great job again. Here is a sample of the nights shots.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

Flowers have forever been a subject almost all photographers cant help but shooting, I'm one of those people. I am a big fan of color in my photography and I use colorful flowers in a lot of my backgrounds when shooting portraits. However this post is of flowers as the main subject and from all angles. My father and I went to the tulip festival in Washington state and this is a sample of the days colorful shoot. A few of these pictures made perfect mothers day gifts para mi madre : )

I absolutely love living in this sun blessed region of our country and have taken plenty of pictures of its beauty in the last few months. As a Landscape/Travel photographer at heart I adventure around and ask questions about new areas naturally so a few months in a place and im a self -proclaimed tour guide! So I decided I should post a sample of what San Diego has shown me so far.. I know there are many many more sights to see and photograph but here are a few.

Building New Models Portfolios

I am currently living down in beautiful San Diego, California but my home is and always will be Seattle, Washington. This past summer in Seattle I worked with one of the city's top modeling agency's TCM models and Talent. I was used to photograpgh and build new models portfolios. If you wanted to become a model, the agency would set you up with me and we would do about a 2 hr shoot in 3 locations with 3 -5 outfit changes. The goal was to get a variety of looks to show Charlie ( the head of the agency ) what the model looked like on film. I started in kind of an internship spot but by the end of the summer I was getting 200$ a shoot. So Basically I went in knowing nothing about portrait photography and came out with a great notch on my resume and a lot of confidence. Charlie loved my stuff, gave me incredible advice and tips, and I left on great terms. I know Ill work with them again someday I really like the team they have. Here is an example of shoots of some of the guy models from last summer.. Thanks for checking out my blog again ! All comments welcome..
